Jokes for the Week

A Joke Backfires A preacher, who shall we say was "humor impaired," attended a conference to help encourage and better equip pastors for their ministry. Among the speakers were many well known and dynamic speakers. One such boldly approached the pulpit and, gathering the entire crowd's attention, said, "The best years of my life were spent in the arms of a woman that wasn't my wife!" The crowd was shocked! He followed up by saying, "And that woman was my mother!" - The crowd burst into laughter and delivered the rest of his talk, which went over quite well. The next week, the pastor decided he'd give this humor thing a try, and use that joke in his sermon. As he surely approached the pulpit that sunny Sunday, he tried to rehearse the joke in his head. It suddenly seemed a bit foggy to him. Getting to the microphone he said loudly, "The greatest years of my life were spent in the arms of another woman that was not my wife!" The con

A Great Story

The Good Samaritan Revisited by Wayne Rice One day, a priest was walking down a country lane when he heard cries coming from a ditch on the other side of the road. "Help me! Help me, please!" The priest stopped and strained his neck to see into the ditch. Then he called across the road, "What happened to you?" "I was traveling to town when I was attacked, beaten, and robbed. Please help me, I can't move," the voice responded. The priest paused for a moment. Then he yelled back to the voice in the ditch. "Listen, there's this guy called the Good Samaritan who always helps people in need. He should be coming down the road any time now. He'll help you. I don't know anything about first aid and I wouldn't want to make things worse." "Wait, you don't understand, I'm..." But the priest had already gone on his way. Soon, another man came walking along the road. This man was a Levite.

One of my pastor friends once said “men are amazed when miracles happen, but God is amazed when miracles don’t happen”. You are asking what you must do to be healed. God is asking a question in this regards too. His question is what must we not do to be healed. I ask Oh Lord My God... Father can mortal men try to answer your question? Holy Spirit helps us... You great teacher of truth! The Things We Must Not

ANNOINTING OIL Any priest serving in the tabernacle had to be annointed for that by the High Priest Exodus 29:21 21 And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons’ garments with him. THE SACRED BREASTPLATE The High priest wore the sacred breastplate with twelve gems inscribed with the name of the tribes of Isreal Exodus 28:4 4 And these are the garments which they shall make; a breastplate, and an ephod, and a robe, and a broidered coat, a mitre, and a girdle: and they shall make holy garments for Aaron thy brother, and his sons, that he may minister unto me in the priest’s office. THE OUTTER COURTS The tabernacle was an elaborate system of tents and portable items, designed to be carried through the desert and set up when the people and encamped. whereever they dec

Love One Another Always!

Greetings in the name of the Lord!!! I want to share this very short story of how we should love and believe the best of one another until they prove otherwise... instead of allowing mistrust and over sensitivity guide us and in the end break our relationships with our neighbors, it can really be a terrible thing when we misjudge someone and later find our we were wrong, and have to apologize not only have we offended the person but we have made the person to even doubt the love we have for them, especially when they wouldn't think so low of you. this has really caused a lot of problems in the world especially when the person is not lead by the Holy Ghost . John 13:34-35 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have love d you, so you must love one another , By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another ." Epheisans 4:2 Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love . Hebrews 10:24 And let u

What is the will of God in my sickness? We are going to look at three words in the sub heading. “Will” “God” “Sickness” WILL : To desire something. To leave property behind for posterity. The specified feeling that a person has toward others. A will is God’s purpose or God’s mind or God’s decree or God’s statement or stand, or God’s counsel in your sickness. “GOD”: Then who is this God that I have never seen and yet so much is expected of me? God is a supreme being, the creator an

A Short Story

I Want That One! - As Related By Charles Stanley I heard a story once about a farmer who had some puppies for sale. He made a sign advertising the pups and nailed it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was nailing the sign to the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down to see a little boy with a big grin and something in his hand. "Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies." "Well," said the farmer, "these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal." The boy dropped his head for a moment, then looked back up at the farmer and said, "I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?" "Sure," said the farmer, and with that he whistled and called out, "Dolly. Here, Dolly." Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy's eyes danced with delight. Then out from the doghouse peeked another little ball; this one

Jokes

Locked Car Door A woman was at work when she received a phone call that her daughter was very sick with a fever. She left her work and stopped by the pharmacy to get some medication. She got back to her car and found that she had locked her keys in the car. She didn't know what to do, so she called home and told the baby sitter what had happened. The baby sitter told her that her the fever was getting worse. She said, "You might find a coat hanger and use that to open the door." The woman looked around and found an old rusty coat hanger that had been thrown down on the ground, possibly by someone else who at some time or other had locked their keys in their car. Then she looked at the hanger and said, "I don't know how to use this." So she bowed her head and asked God to send her some help. Within five minutes an old rusty car pulled up, with a dirty, greasy, bearded man who was wearing an old biker skull rag on his head. The woman thought, "Thi

Stepping Stones

The Lord came to me like a dream one day and asked, "why do you sorrow?" I answered, "Lord my life is so full of pain, I can't face one more tomorrow." The Lord sat down beside me, and gently took my hand. He said, "Let Me explain to you, and then you'll understand. Each sorrow is a stepping stone you must surmount each day, And every stepping stone you climb is a sorrow that's passed away. The road of life is a mountainside, with crevices in which to be caught, But as you struggle on your way, I, the Rock, will lend support. Every stepping stone you climb, makes spirit and heart grow strong. Exercising character and faith, this road seems painful and long. The way is paved with stepping stones, to uplift your heart and soul, Though difficult, they aid your way, to a City paved with gold. I know that you are tired, for I too have walked this way, My sorrows did they multiply, but I cleared many stones away. I left My Rock to lift you up, I left behi

That's God

Have you ever been down and out and nobody seems to be around for you to talk to...THAT'S GOD...he wants you to talk to him. Have you ever been just sitting there and all of a sudden you feel like doing something nice for someone you care for...THAT'S GOD...he talks to you through the Holy Spirit. Have you ever been thinking about somebody that you haven't seen in a long time and then next thing you know you see them or receive a phone call from them...THAT'S GOD...there is no such thing as "coincidence." Have you ever received something wonderful that you didn't even ask for, like money in the mail, a debt that had mysteriously been cleared, or a coupon to a department store where you had just seen something you wanted, but couldn't afford...THAT'S GOD...he knows the desires of your heart... Have you ever been in a situation and you had no clue how it is going to get better, but now you look back on it...THAT'S GOD... he passes us through tribu

UNUSUAL MAIL

Ruth went to her mail box and there was only one letter.  She picked it up and looked at it before opening, but then she looked at the envelope again.  There was no stamp, no postmark, only her name and address.  She read the letter: DEAR RUTH, I AM GOING TO BE IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND I'D LIKE TO STOP BY FOR A VISIT. LOVE, JESUS. Her hands were shaking as she placed the letter on the table. "Why would the Lord want to visit me?  I'm nobody special.  I don't have anything to offer."  With that thought, Ruth remembered her empty kitchen cabinets. "Oh my goodness, I really don't have anything to offer.  I'll have to run down to the store and buy something for dinner."  She reached for her purse and counted out its contents.  Five dollars and forty cents.  "Well, I can get some bread and cold cuts, at least." She threw on her coat and hurried out the door.  A loaf of french bread, a half-pound of sliced turkey, and a

THE NAIL

As the story goes, they built a new church building and people came from far and wide to see it. They admired its beauty! Up on the roof, a little nail heard the people praising everything about the lovely structure-except the nail! No one even knew he was there, and he became angry and jealous. "If I am that insignificant, nobody will miss me if I quit!" So the nail then released its hold, slid down the roof, and fell in the mud. That night it rained and rained. Soon, the shingle that had no nail blew away, and the roof began to leak. The water streaked the walls and the beautiful murals. The plaster began to fall, the carpet was stained, and the pulpit Bible was ruined by water. All this because a little nail decided to quit! But what of the nail? While holding the shingle, it was obscure but it was also useful. Buried in the mud it was just as obscure, but now it was useless and would soon be eaten up by rust! The moral of the story-EVERY MEMBER IS IMPORTANT TO THE CHURCH!
