Short Stories

Greetings, I want to share these with you today... these made me laugh when I read them, because it reminded me of how shortsighted, self centered/engrossed we are most times and we forget about the most important thing in life... trusting/having faith in God at all times to see us through every situation we may find ourselves in, for the Bible clearly says in Philippians 1:6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.. NLT.

Your Burden
The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out, he dropped to his knees in prayer. "Lord, I can't go on," he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear." The Lord replied, "My son, if you can't bear it's weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then open another door and pick any cross you wish." The man was filled with relief. "Thank you, Lord," he sighed, and did as he was told. As he looked around the room he saw many different crosses; some so large the tops were not visible. Then he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord," he whispered. And the Lord replied, "My son, that's the cross you brought in."

Do Something
A man distraught by all the pain and suffering he saw all around him broke down and banged his fists into the dirt. His head turns upward and he yells at his God. "Look at this mess. Look at all this pain and suffering. Look at all this killing and hate. God. Oh God! WHY DON'T YOU DO SOMETHING!!" And his God spoke to him and said "I did. I sent you."

The Preacher
A circuit preacher and his young son traveled the countryside on horseback. When they approached a small town the preacher would offer to preach a sermon at the small church in exchange for what the congregation could afford to pay. At one such small church, the preacher and his son entered the church and the preacher casually threw a quarter into the poor box. After a fine sermon, one of the congregation stood and thanked the preacher and said, "We're a small church and we can afford to pay you only what's in the poor box." He opened the box and dropped the contents into the preacher's hand...a quarter. As the preacher and his son were riding away, the preacher was grumbling about the meager pay. The son listened for a bit and said "Dad, if you wanted more out, why didn't you put more in?" We always get out of life (and volunteering) pretty much what we put into it!

Ups and Downs of Life
A little boy is telling his Grandma how "everything" is going wrong. School, family problems, severe health problems, etc.. Meanwhile, Grandma is baking a cake. She asks her grandson if he would like a snack, which of course he does. "Here, have some cooking oil." "Yuck" says the boy. "How about a couple raw eggs? " "Gross, Grandma!" "Would you like some flour then? Or maybe baking soda?" " Grandma, those are all yucky!" To which Grandma replies: "Yes, all those things seem bad all by themselves. But when they are put together in the right way, they make a wonderfully delicious cake! God works the same way. Many times we wonder why he would let us go through such bad and difficult times. But God knows that when He puts these things all in His order, they always work for good! We just have to trust Him and, eventually, they will all make something wonderful.

God bless

  1. These stories are wonderful. The first story I remembered hearing from someone or some website, and I thought, wow, isn't that so true? We always think that the grass is greener somewhere else, when in fact, the cross that we bear isn't so heavy at all. God definitely gives us only what we can handle. I have faith in that.

You're wonderful! Keep up the great messages!!!

    God bless!

  3. You always put smile on my face, and your stories are so true and educational. I read them to my husband and we laugh and at the same time said this is so true. It still sometimes amaze me how people think that God will actually do work for them, but on the end God give us the encouragement and strength to do what we really can do ourselves, there is no magic. BTW, I will not discriminate between stories, because all equally educational, and funny. anna :)
